SRINAGAR: As fresh snowfall blankets the picturesque landscapes of Kashmir, the Valley is witnessing a welcome return of tourists, offering a glimmer of hope to a region still reeling from the aftershocks of the Pahalgam terror attack eight months ago. Popular tourist destinations such as Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam have once again begun to buzz with visitors, marking a potential turning point for Kashmir's struggling tourism sector.

The snow-covered mountains, scenic vistas, and crisp winter air have once again cast their magical spell on tourists, many of whom are arriving from different parts of the country to celebrate the year-end holidays. Visitors can be seen enjoying the winter charm, participating in snow-based activities, and shopping in local markets. An ITV Network reporter spoke to several tourists who expressed both admiration and a sense of peace during their visit. One tourist described Kashmir as truly "heaven on earth," highlighting the unmatched hospitality and serenity the region offers. "There is no fear here only peace and beauty," the tourist added, urging everyone to visit Kashmir at least once in their lifetime.

Despite the cheerful scenes, the shadow of the Pahalgam attack continues to loom over the tourism industry. The incident not only caused a tragic loss of life but also dealt a severe blow to the local economy, particularly for those who depend entirely on tourism for their livelihood. In Srinagar, a local shopkeeper shared his concerns, saying the attack was not just an assault on individuals but on their only means of survival. "We depend on tourists to run our homes. Now that the snowfall has started, we are praying this season brings more people back," he said, expressing cautious optimism.

Hotels in popular tourist areas are slowly filling up, and tour operators have resumed their winter activity packages. With the administration assuring that all safety and logistical arrangements are in place, stakeholders across the Valley are hopeful that the season will bring not only tourists but also renewed confidence in Kashmir as a peaceful and welcoming destination. As the year draws to a close, the snowfall has rekindled hope across the Valley—hope for normalcy, economic revival, and an opportunity to show the world that Kashmir remains a land of beauty, resilience, and unmatched warmth.
