Srinagar: In a significant action against the drug trade, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹60 lakhs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, continuing its sustained crackdown on drug peddlers operating in the city.

The attached property a single-storeyed house bearing Khasra No. 284/1 is located at Shah Mohalla, Ahmednagar. It was acquired in 2018 and belongs to Mohammad Rafiq Patto, son of Ali Mohammad Patto, a resident of the same locality.

This action stems from FIR No. 16/2024 registered at Police Station Zakoora under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act. Mohammad Rafiq Patto has been identified as a habitual offender with a history of targeting local youth through drug distribution.

Investigations revealed that the said property was purchased using proceeds from narcotics trafficking. Accordingly, under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, Srinagar Police has formally seized the property, which now cannot be sold or transferred without approval from the competent authority.

This move is part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s broader strategy to disrupt the financial networks that sustain the drug trade in the region. Officials reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on drugs and urged citizens to support efforts by providing any information related to drug activities.

Srinagar Police emphasized the critical role of community cooperation in eradicating the drug menace and safeguarding future generations.
