In a continuing and resolute effort to root out the drug menace from the Valley, Srinagar Police has attached a residential property worth ₹55 lakhs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, intensifying its campaign against drug trafficking and its financial ecosystem.
The seized property—a two-storeyed house built on 13.5 marlas of land bearing khasra No. 2865 is located in Dawood Colony, Anchaar. It belonged to Khazir Mohammad Tiploo, son of late Abdul Ahad Tiploo, and was identified as illegally acquired through drug money.
This action is linked to FIR No. 85/2024 under Sections 8/20, 21, 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Soura, in which the owner’s son, Hilal Ahmad Tiploo, a resident of the same address, has been named as the main accused. According to the police, Hilal is a *notorious drug peddler* with repeated involvement in narcotic crimes, particularly targeting vulnerable youth in the locality.
Investigations confirmed that the property was acquired from proceeds of illegal drug trade. In response, Srinagar Police invoked *Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act* to formally attach the immovable asset. The property is now frozen and cannot be sold, mortgaged, or transferred without the permission of the competent authority.
This move reflects Jammu & Kashmir Police’s broader strategy to choke the financial lifelines of drug cartels operating in the region. Officials reiterated their commitment to a *zero-tolerance policy* against narcotics and vowed to intensify such actions in the coming days.
The Srinagar Police has also appealed to the public to actively participate in this fight against drug abuse by reporting suspicious activities. “Together, we can build a safe, secure, and drug-free future for our youth,” a police spokesperson said.
