Action targets assets allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking and terror-related activities.

Continuing its intensified action against drug trafficking, terror-related activities and their financial support structures, Srinagar Police has attached and frozen four immovable properties worth approximately Rs 7.11 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A].

According to police, the action was taken in separate cases being investigated by Police Stations Zakura, Nowgam, Ahmadnagar and Shalteng. The properties were identified during investigations as either proceeds of narcotics trafficking or linked to terror-related activities. In the latest action, Police Station Zakura attached a residential house along with land at Bilal Colony, Zakura, valued at around Rs 2.5 crore and belonging to Owais Ahmad Rather. The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 34/2026 registered under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Police said the property was found to have been acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking and was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act. Earlier, Police Station Nowgam attached property worth approximately Rs 2.85 crore belonging to Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh of Wagoora, BK Pora, in connection with FIR No. 121/2023 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act. The property includes a twostoreyed residential building, two shops and a rice mill constructed on 18 marlas of land. The attachment was made after obtaining approval from the competent authority.

In a separate operation, Police Station Ahmadnagar attached a residential property worth nearly Rs 1.30 crore at Danihama, Hazratbal, belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Mir. The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 20/2026 registered under the Arms Act and multiple sections of the UA(P) Act. The property, comprising a residential house and six marlas of land, was attached under Section 25 of the UA(P) Act after following the prescribed legal procedure and obtaining necessary approvals.

Meanwhile, Police Station Shalteng froze a residential house along with seven marlas of land at Check Mujgund, Srinagar, valued at approximately Rs 46 lakh and belonging to Amir Ahmad Mir. The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 43/2023 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act after investigators established that the property had allegedly been acquired from proceeds of drug trafficking.

With these actions, Srinagar Police has attached or frozen four immovable properties collectively valued at around Rs 7.11 crore, dealing a significant blow to the financial assets allegedly generated through narcotics trafficking and terror-linked activities. In a statement, Srinagar Police said, “We are committed to identifying, tracing, freezing and attaching properties generated through the proceeds of illicit activities and dismantling the financial networks sustaining drug trafficking and terror activities,” a police spokesperson said.

The police further asserted that firm and sustained action against drug traffickers, terror operatives, their associates and financial facilitators will continue in accordance with the law.
