Senior Congress leaders from Madhya Pradesh were sending their emissaries to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi and other functionaries to put pressure for removing state president Jitu Patwari, who replaced veteran Kamal Nath in December last year. These emissaries, consisting of former MPs, MLAs and position holders, stated that it was because of Patwari’s working style that the party performed poorly in the Lok Sabha elections .However, these emissaries were told that Patwari will continue for now, given the fact that he didn’t get much time to prepare and strategise for the polls. This has left the veterans disappointed. Given the decades of experience the veterans carry, it will be interesting to see how long Patwari is able to carry on.
