Srinagar, August 17: Security forces on Sunday apprehended two terrorist associates linked to the proscribed outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Malpora Nowgam area of Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

According to officials, a joint naka was set up by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army. During the search operation, two suspects were intercepted and found carrying arms and ammunition.

Recovered items include:
– 2 Chinese grenades
– 2 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Majid Gojri of SK Bala and Abdul Hamid Dar of Vijpara.

A case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and an investigation is underway to establish their links with active terrorists and any involvement in past attacks.

Recent Arrests of OGWs in Kashmir:

– August 15 – Pulwama: One terrorist associate was arrested with incriminating materials during a joint operation in the Rajpora area.
– August 10 – Baramulla: Three OGWs affiliated with LeT were apprehended in Kreeri while planning to carry out attacks on security forces.

– August 2 – Kupwara: Security forces busted a narco-terror module, arresting two LeT associates with drugs and arms smuggled from Pakistan.
– July 28 – Shopian: Two OGWs were caught while providing shelter and support to foreign militants hiding in the region.
– July 22 – Srinagar: An OGW operating a Telegram channel for recruiting youth into terror ranks was arrested by the cyber cell and police.

These arrests underline the intensified crackdown by security forces on terror support networks in the Valley. OGWs remain a key link in militant logistics, and authorities continue to act swiftly to disrupt these channels.
