NEW DELHI: On the final day of campaigning for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on Opposition during multiple rallies. Addressing a massive rally in Lakhisarai in support of NDA candidate and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Yogi declared that the National Democratic Alliance stands for development and good governance, while the RJD and Congress represent jungle raj and hooliganism.
Yogi Adityanath asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar has set new standards in governance and development. “This election is a battle between good governance and jungle raj. Wherever the NDA governs, there is peace, progress, and law and order. But for the RJD and Congress, jungle raj and gunda raj have become part of their political DNA,” he remarked.
Highlighting Bihar’s infrastructural progress, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that under NDA rule, the state has achieved significant advancements in road networks, rail connectivity, airports, and waterways over the past two decades. “Today, Bihar’s makhana, vegetables, and local produce are reaching international markets, empowering both farmers and traders to become self-reliant,” he added.
Criticizing the RJD and Congress for what he called years of misrule, Yogi said, “The period from 1990 to 2005 was the darkest phase in Bihar’s history. Corruption and dynasty politics drained development funds and shattered the dreams of the poor and youth.” He claimed that it was the NDA that restored law and order, ensured the safety of daughters, and created new opportunities for the youth, vowing that the return of jungle raj would never be permitted in Bihar.
Drawing attention to the sacred connection between Ayodhya and Sitamarhi, Yogi Adityanath said that while a magnificent temple of Lord Ram is rising in Ayodhya, a grand temple of Mata Janaki is being built in Sitamarhi. He pointed out that a four-lane road linking Ayodhya and Sitamarhi is being constructed at a cost of ₹6,155 crore — a project that he said was unimaginable under the RJD and Congress regimes.
Speaking about the transformative impact of the Modi government’s welfare initiatives, Yogi Adityanath said, “A new dawn has emerged in the lives of the poor.” He highlighted several key welfare schemes, including the distribution of free ration to 800 million people, ₹5 lakh health insurance to 500 million citizens, construction of toilets for 120 million households, housing for 40 million families, electricity connections to 30 million homes, and free LPG cylinders for 120 million women under the Ujjwala Yojana. These achievements, he said, symbolize the vision of Ramrajya in contemporary India.
Continuing his sharp attack on the Opposition, Yogi said the people of Bihar have not forgotten those who plundered the state through scams, provoked caste divisions, and deprived the poor of their rights. “The days of lantern darkness are gone forever,” he declared. “Today, Bihar glows in the bright, milky light of LEDs.”
Yogi Adityanath’s electrifying address received thunderous applause from the crowd as he invoked the themes of nationalism, cultural heritage, and rapid development. He emphasized that the NDA’s double-engine government — led by Prime Minister Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bihar — has ensured peace, prosperity, and progress across the state. “The people of Bihar will not allow the lantern age to return,” he proclaimed, urging the electorate to deliver a decisive mandate in favour of the NDA.
Concluding his address, Yogi reaffirmed the NDA’s commitment to inclusive growth, empowerment, and progress for all sections of society. “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is steadily emerging as a global powerhouse, and Bihar is playing a vital role in this journey of development and transformation,” he said. He added that the Opposition has long lost the faith of the people, who now stand firmly with the forces of progress.
Notably, Lakhisarai rally witnessed an overwhelming turnout. Yogi Adityanath’s spirited speech, filled with political barbs and data-driven references to development, aimed to energize voters ahead of the polls, portraying the upcoming contest as one between progress and chaos, governance and jungle raj.
