Faith is a requisite to live spiritually

Abraham was seventy five years old, leading a comfortable life in his hometown, surrounded by everything familiar and loved. And then God told Abraham to move; “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you…” (Genesis 12:1-2). He was obedient to God’s call; in faith he set out from Harran, not having seen where God would lead him (Gen. 12:4-5).
Faith is an indispensable ingredient of a spiritual life. A person is said to have faith when they have complete conviction in the truthfulness and reliability of what they believe. People who have faith in Jesus Christ, trust Him implicitly. Therefore, they can confidently commit their lives to Him as their Saviour and Lord. The Bible describes faith as “being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see” (Heb.11:1). Abraham was a man of faith; he knew God would lead him to the land He promised, even though he had never seen the place. He was walking by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7).
Living faith is always demonstrated by corresponding actions. The way we walk and the way we talk reflects our beliefs. Heroes of faith, like Abraham, earned their title because they acted on what God showed them. Instead of doubting and worrying about what could go wrong, they acted on their faith (Heb. 11:17-38). They stepped into the unknown, knowing the One in whom they had placed their faith. Their lives demonstrated that to live in faith means to do and say what you believe is right, without doubting.
When we are transformed by faith in Christ and His love, our lives must reflect the transformation through corresponding actions of love and service for all. Our lives must begin to reflect the life of the One in whom we have placed our faith.
