God remains with us at all times

As Christmas approaches, our attention is once again drawn to the coming of Christ into this world; His becoming one of us. In an awesome action, God stepped out of glory and put on frail human flesh, in order to connect with us. God chose to speak our language, and share our joy and sorrows. At the grave of Lazarus, Jesus wept, and at the marriage celebration in Cana, He joyfully participated. The great joy of Christmas is inseparably bound with the fact of God’s incarnation.
The Christmas story that we see enacted by little children, dressed up as angels and sheep, is not a piece of fiction. When we narrate the story of God parting the veil of eternity and entering into a world of the ticking clock, we are talking about Jesus Christ, an actual historical person. Jesus freely chose to embrace our earthly physical reality.
In that act of Incarnation, God clearly communicated that He never had and never would abandon the wayward world, marked with violent evil practices which lead to nightmares ridden with insecurity. This has led to an increasing urgency and determination to defeat this pool of nothingness into which humanity seems to be sinking.
Many actually believe that life ends in nothingness or nihilism. However, the significant reality of the incarnation of God in the person of Jesus Christ prevents our personal faith from being shallow. Until today and forever more, God loves the world created.
In fact, we can live our daily life with courage and hope because Jesus became one of us; He lived victoriously as one of us.
And He gives us His grace and love to engage in issue of justice, truth, peace and reconciliation. Our efforts are never in vain! The joy of Christmas is connected with God’s incarnation.
