Jesus Christ is always with us

opinionJesus Christ is always with us
Jesus Christ came into this world during troubled times; ones that were worse than what we experience today. A sense  of gloom and anguish, fear and cynicism, was spreading hopelessness and bitterness among people.
There was just one hope. God had promised through prophet Isaiah that He Himself would intervene. His method of intervention would be anything but conventional. God was going to rescue the world through the birth of a child! This birth would carry with it a deep message: Out of disaster God would bring victory. He would incarnate in order to bring back wayward humanity to Himself!
He promised to restore the joy of living in love with God and one another. He promised to provide lasting light so that none may stumble and fall.
But if God is wholly other, morally perfect, infinite and eternal, how was He going to be with us, finite, mortal and wayward people? Don’t the barriers appear too great to be crossed? Explaining this mystery, prophet Isaiah set the stage for the most astounding event in history: the child born of Virgin Mary would also be the Son of God (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23).
Jesus is hundred percent human and hundred percent God. Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ, Isaiah had prophesied: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Jesus is with us, have we welcomed Him into our lives? In the words of John, “to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
We celebrate Christmas because Jesus Christ is with us.
