The grace of God is for all to have

opinionThe grace of God is for all to have

God originally created our human nature without any fault. He, God our Creator, is the source of all good things; like our life, senses, and mind. But today weakness darkens and disables these good natural qualities, as a result of which our human nature needs enlightenment and healing. This weakness did not come from the Blameless Maker but from our free will. We chose to walk away from the path of life designed by our loving Creator. Our human nature now requires a physician because it is not healthy.

The amazing news is that God reached down to us to restore broken relationship. The Bible teaches, “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).”

The grace of God is not bestowed as a reward for merits, but is given freely. It is called grace because of its gift-character. We cannot cause or create God’s grace but we can individually benefit from grace in various ways.

What can we do to deepen our sense of the presence of God? The first step is to repent of our waywardness and turn to the living God. Here is an an illustration to bring further clarity. The sun is always radiating its illumination. However, for that light to enter and illuminate a room in the house, a shutter must be opened.

The opening of that shutter does not cause the sun to shine; the sun is already shining. Rather, the opening of the shutter is the means by which light enters and illuminates the house.

The removal of an obstacle lightens the dark room. In the same way, we can remove obstacles to God’s grace, so that we may progress and mature in the spiritual life. The decision to light up your life is yours.
