Stopping the terror machine

opinionStopping the terror machine

By the firm response to the Pahalgam terror attack masterminded by GHQ Rawalpindi, India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown that the errors of the past repeatedly made with Pakistan are being avoided. The litany of errors began in 1947 itself, when after Mahatma Gandhi had said that Pakistan would come only over his dead body. In a hurry to assume power, other Congress leaders disagreed, and agreed to the British colonial plan championed by M.A. Jinnah to vivisect India. The Mahatma, to the bewilderment of his admirers, went along with the plan for Partition. Gandhiji had been correct although forced to accept vivisection, for Partition proved a disaster, most of all for the Muslims of the subcontinent. Since its inception, Pakistan has been a source of trouble for India. The very next year, another mega concession was made, gifting Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to the putative rogue state. In 1951, India not only did not object to the complete conquest of Tibet by the PRC but declined to assist those powers that wanted to ensure a continuation of freedom for the Tibetan people. Soon afterwards, Aksai Chin was quietly occupied by China with none in authority in New Delhi even noticing the seizure of territory. In 1965, after having bested Pakistan, Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri agreed at Tashkent to hand back the Haji Pir pass to Pakistan, which had been taken at great human cost. In 1972, the gains of 1971 were handed back after cry baby Z.A. Bhutto said only then could he continue as President of Pakistan. Soon afterwards, he was judicially executed by judicial fiat. Since then, there has been an ever-lengthening list of unilateral concessions given to Pakistan, with each only increasing their aggression towards India. Earlier, the infamous Indus Waters Treaty was signed, which was entirely one-sided and grossly unfair to India. It was finally suspended in 2025 and should be resumed only after renegotiation ensures a balanced plan which takes full account of the needs of India.

And as Pahalgam has reminded us, GHQ Rawalpindi has frequently resorted to its terror proxies to inflict damage to India through terror attacks. General Asim Munir, who chose the son of a supporter of Osama bin Laden to be DG ISPR, is choosing to be the ruin of Pakistan and will go the way of General Yahya Khan, who while in power witnessed the separation of East from West Pakistan. Given his reckless, feckless proclivities, General Munir is on track to witness the unravelling of Pakistan into independent Pashtun and Baloch states. Indeed, Pakistan had no legal claim to Balochistan, yet forcibly annexed the country soon after Partition and has ruled it as a colony ever since. After having through his proxies carried out the Pahalgam massacre, General Munir calculated that the Indian response would be feeble. He was taken by surprise by the speed and ferocity of the response by India. Enough is enough. Far too much innocent blood has been spilled in India at the hands of the GHQ Rawalpindi to be permitted any longer. Prime Minister Modi has quietly prepared the country for a conflict that he knew was inevitable, given the hatred for India of GHQ Rawalpindi, who apparently cannot forgive India for returning 93,000 PoWs to Pakistan without any preconditions, another error of judgment of the Government of India at the time. Later, Prime Minister Vajpayee, among the most liked Prime Ministers India has had, legitimised the leader of the coup against the civilian government of Nawaz Sharif by inviting General Pervez Musharraf to Agra, thereby rescuing him from the stain of having brought down a civilian government. Such errors have generally been avoided by the present government. Now it is clear sighted in working towards a closure of terror operations by GHQ Rawalpindi against India. Once and for all, future generations have to be rescued from having to endure countless terror strikes directed from across the border. India wants peace, and hence the need to deal with entities that will never accept peace but constantly look for an opportunity to inflict damage and loss of lives in a country that it has been conditioned to hate.
