NBA great Kevin Durant dished out an exquisite performance at the Kia Centre in Orlando on Thursday, taking the Houston Rockets to a nail-biting 113-108 comeback win over the Orlando Magic. The Washington born exploded with a season-high 40 points, picking up the celebrated 32, 000 career point milestone along the way, as Houston erased a 19-point-second-half-deficit.

The game was decided by an incredible 21-0 run in the third quarter, Durant's scoring combined with a breakout performance from rookie Reed Sheppard as the Rockets moved to 37-21 on the season.

With this 40-point outburst, Durant became the sixth player in NBA history to reach the 32,000-point mark, further solidifying his place among the all-time greats.

Kevin Durant Makes Entry in 32,000-Point Club

The spotlight was on Kevin, who only needed a few points in the game to hit the historic milestone. Coming out of the fourth quarter, not only had he gone over the 32, 000 point mark, but the 37-year-old had also shown the league that he is still one of the most deadly scorers. Durant ended up scoring 40 points on 14-of-28 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds and 3 assists as well.

"The Slim Reaper" logged his 32, 000th point in his 1, 178th NBA appearance, which made him the second fastest player in NBA history to reach the milestone, only behind Michael Jordan (1, 059 games). His 26 points scored in the second half led the Rockets' comeback, especially in the clutch when he scored seven points in a row to give Houston the lead for good.

In a game filled with historic achievements and a stunning 21-0 run, the Houston Rockets came back from a 19-point deficit in the third quarter to beat the Orlando Magic 113-108. After Kevin Durant dropped a season-high 40 points and joined the 32,000-career-point club, it was nevertheless rookie Reed Sheppard who scored 20 points coming off the bench and thus sparked the game-winning run.
