According to reports by Bournemouth Echo and The Mirror, the correspondence failed to address the 60-year loyal employee by his name and was signed off simply as “The Safety Team.”
The issue gained massive traction after a relative, Ryan David, posted a screenshot of the generic email on X (formerly Twitter). Tagging club executives, he called the move a “disgusting approach” and stated the club “should be ashamed,” prompting widespread condemnation from Bournemouth supporters and rival fanbases alike.

Responding to the severe backlash, Bournemouth President of Business Operations Jim Frevola intervened, leading to a formal club statement acknowledging their mistake:
