43-year-old James Anderson looks sharp in indoor training nets ahead of County Championship season.

Despite turning 43 last year, former England seamer James Anderson looks fit and firing, having resumed training ahead of the upcoming county cricket season. In a video shared by Lancashire cricket on X, the right-arm seamer looked in excellent rhythm while bowling in indoor nets with the new cherry.

James Anderson named as permanent captain of Lancashire

The veteran cricketer will be taking on the responsibility of captaincy as he was given the role for their County Championship reign. Anderson had stepped in as an interim skipper for a couple of games during Lancashire's 2025 reign but was appointed in the full-time role after Keaton Jennings resigned in May. Although the 43-year-old has retired from Test cricket, he has shown no signs in drawing curtains on his career as a first-class cricketer. Having taken a record 704 Test wickets, Anderson boasts of 1143 scalps in four-day cricket in 304 games.

Lancashire coach Steven Croft had expressed confidence in his former teammate, claiming that he is the right person for the job and backs him to lead the side to the title in the upcoming season. Croft said, as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo:
