Cristiano Ronaldo is set to lead Al Nassr’s attack when the Saudi Pro League champions visit Al Khaleej on Saturday, September 12. The Portuguese legend has featured in each of the club’s last four league matches after returning from his extended break and remains central to Postecoglou’s plans.
Ronaldo scored his 979th career goal in the 2-1 victory over Abha, putting him 21 strikes away from the 1,000-goal landmark. Al Nassr FC will also be chasing a league scoring record in Dammam.
Is Cristiano Ronaldo Playing Today For Al Nassr vs Al Khaleej?
Fans would be happy to know that Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to start against Al Khaleej after playing the full match in Al Nassr’s previous SPL outing against Abha. He scored the opener in the 22nd minute and was named player of the match as the champions secured a 2-1 victory.
The goal was Ronaldo’s third in the 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign and he remains the focal point of their attack again. The veteran striker has been in red-hot form since returning to action, while Postecoglou has continued to build his frontline around the veteran captain.
The fixture also carries a statistical edge for Al Nassr. Their goal against Abha was their 246th in 93 consecutive league matches in which they have scored, matching River Plate’s world record for consecutive league games with a goal. A strike against Al Khaleej would establish a new benchmark.

Al Nassr arrive with momentum after recovering from their first league defeat of the season against Al Ittihad. They responded by beating Abha, with Ronaldo and Abdullah Al-Hamdan on the scoresheet. Joao Felix is also expected to return to the starting XI after his suspension, strengthening the attacking unit around Ronaldo.
Al Khaleej have endured a difficult start. They recently drew 1-1 with Al Riyadh and had earlier suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Al Hilal. The hosts will need a disciplined defensive display to contain an Al Nassr side featuring Ronaldo, Felix, Sadio Mane and Angelo Gabriel.
