Gresini Racing’s Alex Marquez is targeting a return to competitive action at this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix at the Brno Circuit, pending a final trackside medical check-up. MotoGP official social media channels confirmed on Tuesday that the 30-year-old Spaniard will travel to the Czech Republic with the goal of being declared fit following a lengthy layoff. Just one medical check is pending.
Marquez has been sidelined for nearly a month, missing both the Italian and Hungarian Grands Prix to focus entirely on physical rehabilitation.

What happened during Alex Marquez’s crash at the Catalan GP?
The injury occurred during a terrifying high-speed accident on Sunday at the Catalan Grand Prix in May. Marquez, who was fresh off a dominant form cycle including a Grand Prix victory at Jerez and a Sprint race win in Catalunya, was running in a close second place and actively battling for the lead.
The incident unfolded unexpectedly when Pedro Acosta’s factory KTM suffered a sudden, complete electronic throttle cut-off on a fast section of the track. With Acosta’s bike losing all acceleration instantly, Marquez had zero time to react.
His Gresini Ducati violently slammed into the back of Acosta’s machine at immense speed. The violent impact sent Marquez veering completely out of control into the trackside gravel trap. His bike shattered into pieces across the circuit, and Marquez was launched into a series of dramatic airborne cartwheels before slamming heavily near the retaining barriers.
