Antim Panghal will begin her Asian Games 2026 campaign in the women’s freestyle 53kg category with a Round of 16 bout against Kazakhstan’s Shugyla Omirbek. The Indian wrestler comes into the competition with plenty of international experience, including a U20 World Championship title and a bronze medal from the Hangzhou Asian Games. With the knockout format leaving little room for mistakes, Panghal will be looking to start strongly and put herself in contention for another Asian Games medal.

Omirbek, meanwhile, brings an attacking style and international experience of her own, setting up an intriguing opening-round contest. Panghal’s ability to control the exchanges and defend against Kazakhstan’s counter-attacks could be crucial as she looks to progress through the bracket. A win would take the Indian wrestler closer to the medal rounds and give her an opportunity to improve on her previous Asian Games bronze.
