Sabalenka Debuts Engagement Ring In 100th Match As World No 1
Sabalenka played a fierce match, beating Sakatsume 6-4, 6-2. But even with all that intensity, she cheekily admitted that she and her team actually double-checked the diamond’s security just to make sure it wouldn’t fly off during one of her 120 mph serves.
“We double checked if there’s a possibility to lose a diamond [during the match] and there is none, so I was confident wearing it. It feels comfy, it feels shiny and I hope that my opponent will get distracted by these diamonds.” 😂 @SabalenkaA | #TennisParadise pic.twitter.com/Ie3T23evXj

What’s Next for Sabalenka in BNP Paribas Open 2026?
Next up, Sabalenka faces Jaqueline Cristian in the third round, and her section of the draw is no cakewalk as Anisimova and Osaka are waiting in the wings, too. But with her fiancé and her puppy, Ash, cheering from the stands, she just looks at home out there. After the way she steamrolled her Sakatsume in the first round, you can see the crowd expecting her to finally grab the trophy that slipped away from her in those 2023 and 2025 finals.
