Ashleigh Gardner Under Scrutiny After Estranged Wife’s Instagram Allegations Go Public
Australia women’s cricket vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has become the centre of a personal controversy after her estranged wife, Monica Wright, publicly accused her of infidelity on social media. In a series of Instagram stories, Wright alleged that Gardner had been unfaithful and identified Australian opener Georgia Voll as the alleged third person involved. She shared a photograph of Voll alongside the caption, “This is who my wife cheated on me with..”
The posts appeared shortly after some reports reported that Gardner and Wright had separated following what was described as a difficult breakdown of their marriage. Wright reacted by suggesting the report was “too vague” before sharing another Instagram story in which she named Voll, adding further attention to the already public split.
Wright has also removed all photographs featuring Gardner from her Instagram profile, including pictures from their wedding. As of now, neither Gardner nor Voll has publicly addressed the allegations, while Cricket Australia has also declined to comment on the matter.
Reports Suggest Ashleigh Gardner and Monica Wright Separated Months After Tying the Knot
Ashleigh Gardner and Monica Wright were married in April 2025 in a ceremony attended by several members of Australia’s women’s cricket team. However, according to reports, their relationship reportedly began to unravel just a couple of months later while Gardner was in India for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. The publication, citing a team source, claimed teammates noticed something was “off” after Wright travelled to India to spend time with Gardner, although many initially believed the tension was simply the result of the demands of a major tournament.
The report further stated that after returning to Sydney, Gardner and Wright had a private conversation that ultimately brought their marriage to an end. According to reports, Wright was left “shattered” after Gardner explained why their relationship had changed during the India tour. The split was reportedly even more difficult because the couple had allegedly been planning to start a family and had already arranged an appointment at a fertility clinic before deciding to separate.
According to the same report, Gardner later moved out of the home they shared, leaving behind only their wedding rings. Sources quoted by the report claimed the separation came as a shock within Australia’s close-knit women’s cricket team, with Wright having developed strong friendships with several players over the previous five years. The report also reported that Cricket Australia was aware of the situation, while senior communications chief Richard Hinds responded with a brief “no comment.”
