Asian Games 2026: India’s Gold Medal Winners and Historic Moments
Neeru Dhanda, Kumkum Mohod, Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav emerged as India’s multiple gold medallists, each winning two titles. The country’s success came across a wide range of sports, reflecting a strong mix of team victories and individual performances. India’s team events produced several memorable results during the Games. The women’s cricket team began the gold-medal run with a 147-run win over Sri Lanka, while Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh added shooting gold in the mixed 10m air pistol event.
India then completed a kabaddi double, defeating Iran in both the women’s and men’s finals. The women’s 4x400m relay team of Kiran Pahal, Poovamma Machettira, Prachi Choudhary and Vithya Ramraj also finished on top. Hockey added two more major titles, with the women’s team ending a 44-year wait for gold and the men’s side beating Malaysia 5-1 before securing qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Men’s cricket then capped the team-event success with a 19-run victory over Pakistan.
Individual events also played a major role in India’s gold-medal tally. Neeru Dhanda became the first Indian to win an individual gold at the Games after claiming the women’s trap title, before teaming up with Kynan Chenai to win mixed trap gold. Archery enjoyed a particularly productive spell, with Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep winning the women’s compound team title, followed by Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav taking mixed compound gold. Jadhav also won men’s team compound gold alongside TG Mani Ratnam and Kushal Dalal. In recurve, Ankita Bhakat, Kirti Sharma and Kumkum Mohod won the women’s team title, while Mohod later added individual gold.
Boxing and wrestling provided more individual success. Lovlina Borgohain won the women’s 75kg boxing title, while Parveen Hooda claimed gold in the 65kg category and Ankush Panghal triumphed in the men’s 80kg event. Sujeet Kalal secured wrestling gold in the men’s freestyle 65kg category after a comeback in the final, with Aman Sehrawat adding another title in the 57kg division. Golf also produced a landmark achievement as Pranavi Urs became the first Indian woman to win an individual gold medal at the Asian Games. Together, these performances helped India finish its Aichi-Nagoya campaign with 21 gold medals and a total haul of 85.
