Australia Women's team delivered a clinical performance to earn a six-wicket win against India Women in the first ODI on February 24, 2026. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, India was held back to a modest score of 214, a target the home team comfortably achieved with 70 balls remaining. This win brought the multi-format series points to 4-4, thus putting a stop to India's cheer after their significant T20I series victory at the start of the tour.

Indian Batting Falters Despite Smriti Mandhana And Harmanpreet Kaur's Half Centuries

The visitors had a pretty bad start despite winning the toss, as their first comeback opener, Pratika Rawal, was dismissed for a duck on the second ball of the match by Megan Schutt. While the duo of vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (58 off 68) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (53 off 84) kept the innings steady with their half-centuries, the middle order couldn't take advantage of the situation.

Kashvee Gautam's (43) late hitting helped India cross the 200 mark, but the absence of a good partnership led to India's total getting limited to 214 in 48. 3 overs. Ashleigh Gardner was Australia's best bowler, taking 3/33.

Alyssa Healy And Beth Mooney Masterclass Ensures Easy Chase For Australia

It was quite reassuring for Australia to get the "old guard" back on the field, and that alone made their chase a certainty. Healy, the skipper who was playing her last ODI series, led from the front with a smooth 50 from 70 balls. Besides that, it was Beth Mooney who dominated with a striking Player of the Match performance, racking up a steady 76 from 79 balls.

Left-arm spinner Sree Charani managed to strike twice in quick succession to get rid of Litchfield and Voll, but Mooney held the innings together with Annabel Sutherland (48), who closed the game dramatically with a six over midwicket to clinch the victory with almost 12 overs in hand.
