After a disappointing run at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan will begin their Bangladesh tour with a three-match ODI series starting March 11 in Dhaka.
The series marks a new phase for both teams as they test new leadership. Bangladesh will be led by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, while Shaheen Shah Afridi will captain Pakistan.
One of the biggest talking points of the series is Pakistan’s decision to rest senior players including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah, as the team management looks to test bench strength ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. In the recently concluded T20 World Cup in which India emerged victorious, Pakistan ended their campaign in Super 8 stage.

Pakistan are set to hand ODI debuts to Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain, creating a new-look top order alongside experienced wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.
On the other hand, Bangladesh who are coming after missing the 2026 T20 World Cup due to domestic political issues will rely on their strong home record and experienced bowling attack featuring Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam. Coach Phil Simmons has also confirmed that Litton Das will bat at No.5 to strengthen the middle order.
