Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl revealed that the definitive decision to sign the versatile midfielder crystallised after witnessing his qualities firsthand during direct competition. Eberl explained the strategic thought process behind the move:
“We’ve known Ismael for a while now. The final real proof that he’s a player for FC Bayern came in the game against us. With his speed and versatility, he repeatedly put us in trouble. Even though we still won in the end. He has something special. We followed it up after that. Both transfers – of Nene Brown and Ismael Saibari – show that we want to focus on flexibility.”

Before making his blockbuster move to Germany, Saibari had already established himself as one of the most productive and dangerous midfielders in the Dutch top flight.
