With Team India struggling with injuries alongside the need to put up match-winning performances, they have named replacements for Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy in their upcoming ODI and T20I assignments. Both Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy were ruled out of the T20I series against England midway after suffering hamstring injuries, depleting the visitors’ bowling unit further. With the Men in Blue set to compete next England in ODIs and Zimbabwe in T20Is, who have been named as replacements?

Who have India named as replacements for Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy?

According to the official release unveiled by the BCCI on July 12, Sunday, Prince Yadav has been included in the ODI to face England, while Ravi Bishnoi will replace Chakravarthy in the T20I squad for the three-game series in Zimbabwe. Prince will also take Rana’s spot for the Zimbabwe tour. The BCCI released the below statement:

“Rana reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. Subsequent scans revealed a Grade 1 hamstring injury. He has been ruled out of the forthcoming ODI series against England and will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further assessment and management. Chakaravarthy also reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his left hamstring during the third T20I against England. An MRI scan subsequently revealed a Grade 2 hamstring injury. Based on specialist medical advice, he has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe. He will report to the BCCI COE for further management.”

India vs England, ODI series: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma begin practice in Birmingham

Meanwhile, the likes of Kuldeep Yadav, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah have started practising at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The Men in Blue will undoubtedly be boosted by the firepower and experience they bring to the table. Kohli notably missed the home series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring tear suffered while batting in the IPL 2026 final between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit, meanwhile, regained form in the final ODI against Afghanistan after scores of 16 and 48 in the first two games. However, the former Indian captain will still need some big runs against England to keep himself in contention for the 2027 World Cup. Bumrah’s addition in India’s bowling arsenal is the biggest addition, given his ability to bowl well across all phases.
