Former Indian cricketer and leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has announced his retirement from commentary for the BCCI in a series of explosive claims of racism against the cricketing body via his official account on X. The 60-year-old, who has spent a staggering 23 years in cricket commentary, claimed that his services were not even used when a reputed commentator like Ravi Shastri was coaching Team India.

The Chennai-born former cricketer started by announcing that he is quitting commentary for the BCCI. Furthermore, Sivaramakrishnan explosively claimed that he doesn’t understand why his services were not used during tosses and presentations for 23 years, with new comers getting a chance.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan’s cricketing career
As far as the 60-year-old’s career goes, he starred for India in 9 Tests and 16 ODIs from 1983 to 1987. He reportedly came into the spotlight as a 12-year-old as he stunningly snaffled seven scalps for two runs. The wrist-spinner’s red-ball debut for India came during the 1983 tour of the West Indies. He scored 17 useful runs in the first innings in India’s total of 457 in 126.3 overs. Sivaramakrishnan leaked plenty of runs in the first innings, finishing with figures of 25-1-95-0 as the match resulted in a draw.
He finished his Test career with 26 wickets at 44.03 with three five-wicket hauls. Sivaramakrishnan’s ODI career saw him take 15 scalps at 35.86. His last professional game came in the 1998 Irani Trophy.
