Carlos Alcaraz US Open 2026: Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz continues his US Open 2026 title defence on Sunday, September 6, when he faces American No. 20 seed Tommy Paul in a blockbuster Round of 16 clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, is into the fourth round after winning his opening three matches following a four-month injury layoff.
Paul, meanwhile, earned his place in the last 16 after a gruelling five-set victory over Alexander Bublik. The Spaniard leads Paul 6-2 in their career head-to-head record, but the American has previously pushed Alcaraz in several major encounters. Here is when and where fans can watch Tommy Paul vs Carlos Alcaraz live in the UK, USA and India.

Tommy Paul vs Carlos Alcaraz Head-to-Head, Form And Prediction
Alcaraz arrives in the fourth round with a 6-2 career advantage over Paul. The Spaniard’s return to Flushing Meadows has been particularly significant after he missed around four months because of a right wrist injury. He opened his campaign by beating Roman Safiullin 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, before recovering from a slow start against Jaime Faria to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.
The defending US Open champion then produced one of his most convincing performances of the tournament against China’s Yibing Wu, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-1. That victory extended Alcaraz’s US Open record to 27-3 and his Grand Slam match-winning streak to 17 matches, according to official and trusted reports.
Paul has had a considerably tougher route. The American defeated Dino Prizmic in four sets before overcoming No. 15 seed Alexander Bublik in a five-set thriller, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-3. The win avenged Paul’s five-set defeat to Bublik at the 2025 US Open and set up another meeting with Alcaraz.
Alcaraz therefore starts as the clear favourite, but Paul’s familiarity with his game could make this a competitive fourth-round battle.
