Spanish Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz could likely make his comeback to professional tennis next month after a lengthy injury lay-off after a wrist injury forced him to miss Wimbledon 2026 and Roland Garros 2026. Having lost his No.1 ranking recently, Alcaraz will soon resume his quest to regain it. But what is the youngster’s potential return date?

A few Tennis pundits had reportedly predicted Alcaraz to not making an appearance in the remaining year, giving his wrist all the time to heal. Nevertheless, fans will be thrilled to know that the youngster will skip the Canadian Open, which he did in 2025 too but return for the Cincinnati Masters, beginning on August 11, as reported La Verdad. With the tournament only 19 days away from the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year in US Open, his return looks promising.
Nevertheless, La Verdad also reported that the 23-year-old needs clearance from his physician, Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro, which he is likely to this week. Alcaraz had notably won the Cincinnati Masters last year and went on to lift the US Open title. He will hope to do that again but must be at the top of his game, with any rust to be shaken off immediately.
Carlos Alcaraz set to resume rivalry with Jannik Sinner
Upon return, the Spainard is expected to resume his rivalry with Italy’s Jannik Sinner, with the duo set to battle hard consistently for Grand Slam titles in the next decade. Last year, the two enjoyed an exciting feud. Sinner had beaten Alexander Zverev to win the Australian Open crown but Alcaraz beat the former to win the French Open and US Open title. At the same time, Sinner had got the better of Alcaraz in the Wimbledon singles final.
Nevertheless, Alcaraz will also have to watch out for Zverev, who has become a significantly better player in the last four months and continues to touch new heights. The German had won the French Open title but went down to Sinner in the final of Wimbledon 2026. There is also the experienced Novak Djokovic, who is itching to win his elusive 25th Grand Slam but has been falling short since nearly three years.
