Inter Miami have sealed the signature of former Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. He joins the Major League Soccer (MLS) club from Manchester United, ending a four-year-long spell. Inter Miami, who have been facing tampering charges, potentially due to some financial issues, signed the Brazilian star to a short-term deal with an option to extend. Casemiro will now join forces with long-time rival Barcelona legend Lionel Messi. The MLS club, co-owned by Manchester United legend David Beckham, unveiled its new No. 5 with a social media post.

Casemiro, a five-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid, bid adieu to European club football at the age of 34. Fresh off a heartbreaking FIFA World Cup run with the Brazil national team, Casemiro will now start a new chapter on US soil in the twilight phase of his career, alongside Lionel Messi. The duo previously faced off on many occasions during their time in Spain.
Casemiro parted ways with Manchester United after guiding them back to the Champions League after a long gap. He appeared in 33 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals.

Casemiro’s Salary at Inter Miami: Why is the MLS club facing tampering allegation?
The club has not yet disclosed Casemiro’s salary, which is expected to be a fascinating number. Inter Miami has a one-year deal with the Brazilian, while there could be a two-year extension. It was not a straightforward transfer.
Inter Miami had to beat the LA Galaxy, who had triggered the “discovery rights” in MLS, earning priority to sign the Manchester United star. However, his current employer will have to compensate their rivals for the buy. Casemiro’s salary should be revealed after the tampering investigation by the MLS is over.
Earlier, Inter Miami faced sanctions from MLS in 2021 following an investigation into salary cap violations. The club was fined $2 million, while owner Jorge Mas received an additional $250,000 penalty. MLS also suspended chief operating officer and sporting director Paul McDonough for one year.
