Commonwealth Games 2026, All You Need To Know: The Commonwealth Games return in a totally new format and the wait is almost over. Glasgow 2026 will be the most compact and sustainable in the event’s history, taking place 23 July to 2 August. Glasgow has moved in with a radical blueprint following Victoria’s withdrawal as host because of rising costs, with a focus on affordability, existing infrastructure and operational efficiency. More than 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories will compete for 215 gold medals across 10 sports and six integrated para-sports. The Indian contingent will consist of 124 members, including 86 athletes (57 men and 29 women) in eight able-bodied and five para disciplines. Stars like Neeraj Chopra and Mirabai Chanu are expected to spearhead the country’s medal challenge.
What Makes Glasgow 2026 Different?
Unlike previous editions spread across multiple cities and venues, the 23rd Commonwealth Games will be staged within an eight-mile competition corridor. All sporting events will be held across four existing world-class venues.
