The Scottish city had already played host to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, and almost all the venues were still available; On top of that, the transport systems and the expertise needed for running the games were in place.
Rather than having to construct new infrastructure that is costly, Glasgow suggested using a simple approach that is highly dependent on existing resources. This decision helped them cut costs greatly and enabled them to have an efficient event preparation plan within just some time.
Commonwealth Games 2026: Number of sports reduced from 19 to 10
Glasgow 2026 has mostly been changed into a shorter-scale event to ensure the success of the rescue operation plan for the games. A total of ten sporting events plus six integrated Para-sport events will be spread among the four main venues situated within an eight-mile corridor.
