New Delhi, July 7: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Tuesday accorded a grand send-off to India’s contingent for the Commonwealth Games 2026 while unveiling the official ceremonial and competition kit that Team India will wear during the Games in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2.
The ceremony brought together athletes, coaches, support staff, dignitaries and corporate partners as Team India prepares to leave for Scotland aiming for another successful Commonwealth Games campaign.
Among those present were Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, IOA President Dr. P.T. Usha, British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron, Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, Department of Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao, Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal, Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani, along with athletes, coaches and support staff.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said India is creating a world-class sporting ecosystem under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged the athletes to compete fearlessly while upholding the true spirit of sportsmanship. He reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to providing every possible support to help athletes achieve success on the global stage.
IOA President Dr. P.T. Usha congratulated every athlete on earning the opportunity to represent the nation, saying they carry the hopes of more than a billion Indians and wished the contingent success in Glasgow.
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron said the Glasgow Games would celebrate athletic excellence, diversity and the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth. She also highlighted the strong sporting relationship between India and the United Kingdom and expressed excitement about India hosting the centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad in 2030.
The send-off ceremony also featured the unveiling of Team India’s official ceremonial and competition kit, a ramp walk by athletes showcasing the new apparel, interactions with current and former Commonwealth Games medallists and addresses by senior dignitaries.
Designed by acclaimed designer Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports, the official Commonwealth Games 2026 kit is inspired by the concept of ‘Invisible Trajectories’. Inspired by the rhythm, precision and flow of athletic movement, this design transforms the unseen pathways carved out by athletes into intricate spirograph-inspired patterns. Every line and curve of the jersey is a geometry of effort and excellence, reflecting Team India’s unyielding quest for greatness.
Speaking about the new kit, Parth Jindal, Founder of JSW Sports, said ‘Rukna Nahin Hai’ is more than a slogan and reflects JSW’s long-term commitment to Indian sport. He added that the jersey has been designed with athletes at its core and urged Indians to wear it proudly in support of Team India during the Commonwealth Games.
The Indian Olympic Association also acknowledged the support of its corporate partners. Team India’s Glasgow campaign is backed by Reliance Foundation Sports, Yes Bank, JSW Inspire, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Adani Sportsline as Principal Sponsors, while Amul joins as the Associate Sponsor. The IOA said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to providing Indian athletes with the best possible resources to excel on the international stage.
The contingent will be led by Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal, alongside Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani, who will oversee Team India’s campaign and ensure comprehensive support for the athletes throughout the Games.
India will send a 124-member contingent, comprising both able-bodied and para-athletes, to compete in Glasgow. The contingent will participate across 10 disciplines, including athletics, boxing, weightlifting, judo, gymnastics, cycling, lawn bowls and swimming, along with para-athletics, para-wheelchair basketball, para-powerlifting, para-swimming and para-track cycling.
