Conor McGregor UFC Comeback: Conor McGregor is already talking about a return less than a week from now after his highly anticipated UFC comeback ended in a first-round injury loss against Max Holloway. The Irish fighter put up a birthday video on his Instagram and promised to get back in the octagon, despite doctors speculating that he might have hurt his ACL severely during UFC 329. McGregor turned 38 on July 14 and celebrated with Dee Devlin, his fiancee, as well as with a can of his MAC Energy drink, the same day being only days away from the incident that put him out of action after five years of a five-year comeback to the octagon.

“We’ll be back, We’ll be back.” These were Conor McGregor’s words as he teased yet another comeback. McGregor shared a video as he celebrated his 38th birthday with his fiancee. The Irish fighter had his highly anticipated comeback against Max Holloway spoiled after a first-round injury. The Notorious (his nickname) made a comeback to the Octagon after almost six years to fight against Holloway. This was one of the most anticipated fights of the year at UFC 329, but a horrific injury to McGregor’s leg meant that the fight ended before it could even reach the second round.
UFC 329: Conor McGregor’s comeback fight against Holloway lasts 69 seconds
McGregor’s comeback fight was over in 69 seconds of the opening round when his leg twisted after he made an attempt at delivering a jumping kick but landed clumsily. Referee Mike Beltran saw this happen and called off the fight at the 1:09 mark, as McGregor apparently could not put any weight on his right leg – the same one he was injured in 2021 when losing to Dustin Poirier. Dana White, head of the UFC, said that from the first doctors’ examination came a strong suspicion that it was a torn ACL.
“This came out of nowhere, ” McGregor shared on X when he learned that the leg could have a significant injury. He also noted that during the weeks leading up to the fight he had been practicing the same type of kicks without any pain.
UFC announcer Joe Rogan explained such injuries, noting that the wrong landing of a jumping kick would put tremendous pressure on the knee.
