Even as Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo continues to display his hunger for goals and hopes to touch the 1000 mark soon, the veteran athlete has also marked himself out in buying a stake in a football team. Spanish club UD Almeria announced that Ronaldo has purchased a 25% stake of their club as it signals the star footballer's long-term vision, given he has already entered into his twilight years.

UD Almeria set for La Liga return

UD Almeria, which is based in Southern Spain, is currently third in the Segunda Division, just a couple of points away from automatic promotion spots. As a result, they are firmly in the hunt for a return in La Liga after a relegation in 2023/24. The deal was sealed through CR7 Sports investments, which is a subsidiary of the parent company CR7 SA, making the 41-year-old a co-owner of the Spanish side.

Club President Al Khereiji stated that he is quite pleased to have the 41-year-old invest in UD Almeria, given Ronaldo is amongst the greatest ever to grace the game.
