Wimbledon 2026 Final: With Alexander Zverev being a Type 1 Diabetic and receiving special exemption from the stakeholders to use his phone, the German Tennis star has reportedly been seen using it throughout Wimbledon 2026. In a viral video emerged on social media, it was claimed that Zverev also took an Insulin injection during the break of the final against Jannik Sinner. Did he indeed take the insulin?

While the authorities strictly prohibit the use of phone or any other electronic device during the match, Zverev has been allowed to do so. 29-year-old is Type 1 Diabetic and therefore has a medical exemption to the rule and is allowed to check his phone to monitor is glucose levels. According to BBC Sport, the Grand Slam tournaments have a list of players who are diabetic and they are permitted to check their phones amid matches to check their glucose level and inject insulin, if required. BBC Sport has also reported that Zverev has a phone that contains no SIM card and it is solely used to monitor his glucose level while on court. Instead of doing the finger-prick checks, the phone can be used to read his glucose level whenever required.

Meanwhile, the viral video is after the first set of the Wimbledon 2026 final. With the German leading the second set 3-2, he was sitting in one of the courtside chairs and took out a medical pouch. He took out an insulin pen and injected one on his thigh before resuming his battle with the defending champion.

Having lost to Sinner for the 10th consecutive time, Zverev playfully said he doesn’t like his Italian counterpart anymore but doffed his hat to the 24-year-old at the same time.
