Stokes, who currently plays only Tests, has come under scrutiny since the Ashes defeat, which also made things complicated with coach Brendon McCullum. The 35-year-old all-rounder has maintained his silence on the matter so far. Stokes became the England Test captain in 2022, succeeding Joe Root.
