Pakistan Cricket in Turmoil After T20 World Cup: The Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan cricket team had a disappointing run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The Men in Green failed miserably in the tournament and couldn't reach the semi-final stage. Aleem Dar Steps Down from Selection Committee After Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2026 Exit

Now, according to several reports, former ICC umpire Aleem Dar, who joined PCB’s revamped selection committee in October 2024, has officially resigned from his position on Monday, March 2nd, 2026. This move comes when the Pakistani cricket team is receiving criticism from all around the world.

It is not unusual in Pakistan cricket that, after poor performances, members, players, or coaches associated with PCB resign or are removed. Aleem Dar was one of the high-profile names picked for the restructured selection committee back in 2024, after Pakistan suffered a humiliating innings and 47-run defeat to England despite scoring over 500 runs in the first innings.

Dar was one of four out of five selectors retained by the management, alongside Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Aaqib Javed. The only change was Usman Hashmi replacing Hassan Cheema as the data analyst. However, after the national team’s poor showing in the major tournament, another selector has resigned.

Aqib Javed and Asad Shafiq stay on the committee, with Usman Hashmi advising. Aleem Dar resigned amid pressure after Pakistan’s inconsistent form.
