Authorities have since identified the suspect as the couple's 27-year-old son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, who has been arrested and is facing charges in connection with the incident.

Reid also shared an encouraging update, confirming that Mia Bieniemy is now in stable condition after receiving medical treatment.

Addressing reporters on Monday, Reid expressed his concern for the family while providing an encouraging update on Mia’s recovery.
Reid confirmed that Mia’s condition has improved and said the organization is fully behind Bieniemy during this difficult period. “Our hearts go out to Eric Bieniemy,” Reid said. “Mia is stable, which is a plus. We all love EB, and you hate seeing those things happen. Real life. You take care of that. She’s a saint, one of God’s good blessings. But things happen.” He also noted that there is currently no timeline for Bieniemy’s return, with the coach remaining by his family’s side.
In Bieniemy’s absence, Reid confirmed that pass game coordinator Joe Bleymaier will take over offensive coordinator duties on an interim basis. While the Chiefs continue preparations for the new NFL season, Reid reiterated that the team’s priority is supporting Bieniemy, adding that there is no set date for his return to the organization.
Authorities have arrested Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, in connection with the shooting at the family’s home in Ashburn, Virginia. Police identified the victim as Mia Bieniemy, Eric Bieniemy’s 57-year-old wife, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the incident on Sunday evening. In a statement released on Monday, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said, “Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, of Ashburn, was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Discharge of a Firearm Inside of a Dwelling.” He is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No motive has been disclosed.
