Erling Haaland’s camp has made a shocking move behind closed doors. His agents have reportedly reached out to Barcelona to discuss a future mega-transfer.
According to Spanish insider Juan Jesús, Haaland’s team has already given Barcelona the numbers. They laid out the expected transfer fee and wage demands for a move targeted around 2027 or 2028.
Why Is This Happening Now? The Man City Crisis
The big reason behind this contract is Manchester City’s legal nightmare.
City are facing more than 115 charges for allegedly breaking financial rules. If the independent commission hits them with severe penalties, the club could face massive point deductions or even relegation from the Premier League.
Haaland’s team is simply planning ahead. If City get relegated or banned from European football, Haaland will not stick around. His agents want a ready-made backup plan at a top European club.
What Did Haaland’s Agents Tell Barcelona?
Haaland’s team did not just make friendly small talk. They put real numbers on the table for Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Reports indicate the transfer fee could sit between £130 million and £150 million. On top of that, Haaland would want around €25 million to €30 million in net wages per year.
This is not a deal for January or next summer. It is a long-term roadmap. It gives Barcelona two full years to get their finances in order so they can afford the deal when the time comes.
Why Is Barcelona Targeting 2027 or 2028?
The timing makes complete sense for Barcelona for two huge reasons:
First, the renovated Spotify Camp Nou will be 100% finished by late 2027. A packed stadium of 105,000 fans will bring in massive ticket and sponsorship money every week. Laporta wants Haaland to walk out as the grand opening superstar of the new arena.
Second, Robert Lewandowski will be gone by then. That opens up the starting striker spot and wipes a massive €30 million salary off Barcelona’s wage bill.
Haaland Transfer: Why Barcelona and Not Real Madrid?
If Haaland leaves England for Spain, Barcelona is his only real choice.
Real Madrid already have Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham. If Haaland goes to Madrid, he has to share the spotlight with three other superstars.
At Barcelona, Haaland would be the undisputed king. He would team up with wonderkid Lamine Yamal to build the deadliest attack in world football and make a serious push for the Ballon d’Or.
The Rodri Playbook All Over Again
This is not the first time a Manchester City star has used this trick with Barcelona.
Back in 2024, Rodri’s agents did the exact same thing. They quietly told Barcelona what Rodri would cost two years before he actually made the move to Spain.
Haaland’s camp is following that exact same script. They have given Barcelona the blueprint early, so when the striker decides to leave Manchester, everything is already lined up.
