The 2026 Formula 1 season is going to be a year of change. Redesigned cars, new aerodynamics, an expanded 11-team grid, and a 24-race calendar and now, it adds another first as Netflix is set to live-stream a Grand Prix for the first time.

After releasing the Formula 1 docudrama series Drive to Survive Season 8, Netflix is stepping further into live motorsport, especially after the commercial success of the recent F1-themed blockbuster film.

According to an article published by Netflix’s digital platform Tudum, the streaming giant will jointly broadcast the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix teaming up with Apple.

The collaboration is surprising, given that Apple and Netflix have largely operated as streaming rivals. However, their relationship appears to be evolving.

Recently, Apple TV also acquired the rights to stream Drive to Survive Season 8 in the United States alongside Netflix.

Last year in October, Apple TV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for F1 in the United States in a five-year deal reportedly worth $750 million, approximately $150 million per year. This bid was higher, almost double, than ESPN’s previous deal of around $80 million annually.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Formula 1 season will begin in Australia on March 8, with the Canadian Grand Prix scheduled for May 24 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

However, in India, Formula 1 will continue to stream officially on the Fancode app and website.

This year, for the first time since 2016, the F1 grid is expanding to 11 teams. Cadillac, backed by General Motors (GM) and TWG Motorsports, joins as an entirely new entrant.
