Sanjiv Goenka is a fan of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and it’s not a secret now. The Lucknow Super Giants owner has often showered plaudits on Sooryavanshi, who has emerged as the new sensation of Indian cricket. The Rajasthan Royals opener has already made his name in the IPL circuit with some blistering innings. And now, he has been called up to the India A side, set to tour Sri Lanka for a one-day tri-series in June. Though it was not quite unexpected, Sanjiv Goekna was thrilled to see Vaibhav’s name on the India A squad list.

While Tilak Varma has been named the captain, with Riyan Parag as his deputy, the team also features some exceptional young talents such as Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, Anshul Kamboj, and Ayush Badoni. Apart from India A and Sri Lanka A, Afghanistan A will also compete in the tri-series. The Indian side will also play two red-ball games against the hosts after the limited-over assignments are over.

Sanjiv Goenka’s Special Words for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after India A Squad Announcement

The LSG owner was all praise for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after he became the youngest player to earn India A call-up. It could seem like a personal win for Goenka, who has watched Vaibhav grow over the years. The businessman gifted Vaibhav a 24-carat gold chain following his breathtaking IPL debut against LSG in 2025.

“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection for the India A squad should be celebrated for many reasons, the biggest one being how far this young man has come in such a short time. From his IPL debut last year to scoring 175 in the U19 World Cup final and being named Player of the Tournament, the country has been watching with awe,” the businessman wrote on X.

After his post surfaced online, fans might assume Goenka would try to sign Vaibhav at the next IPL 2027 mini auction. However, the decision entirely depends on the RR management, and considering Sooryavanshi’s red-hot form, he is quite unlikely to be released or traded.

Goenka also expressed his admiration for Ayush Badoni, who has represented LSG in eight matches at IPL 2026, registering 172 runs at a 140-plus strike rate. “Delighted to also see Ayush Badoni in the squad. Congratulations to both. Make India proud,” he added.

How has Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Performed So Far in IPL 2026?

The 15-year-old batter remains one of the leading run-scorers this season. In his 11 innings, Vaibhav has amassed 440 runs at an impressive strike rate of 236.55. His tally also includes one century and two fifty-plus scores. Vaibhav currently holds the seventh place on the IPL 2026 Orange Cap list.

Sanjiv Goeka’s LSG Struggling for Consistency

With Rishabh Pant in charge, Lucknow Super Giants have managed only three wins in their 11 games so far in IPL 2026. The Goenka-owned side are languishing at the bottom of the table and are practically out of the playoff race. LSG will host CSK in their next IPL fixture on Friday (May 15).
