FIFA World Cup 2026: Bengaluru Restaurants, Pubs to Stay Open Till 3:30 AM For Semifinals, Final After CM DK Shivakumar’s Approval

The Karnataka government has allowed Bengaluru restaurants, pubs and hotels to extend food service till 3:30 AM on July 14, 15 and 19 to facilitate screenings of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinals and final. The decision, approved after a request from the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), was announced by DK Shivakumar, with authorities urging fans to celebrate responsibly.

The Karnataka government have made special concessions on late-night operating hours to help deal with the vast influx of viewers expected to tune into live coverage of the current FIFA World Cup 2026, after Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that pubs, restaurants and hotels can now operate up to 3:30 am, an extension from the original 1:00 am limit. After The National Restaurant Association of India made an official representation regarding the midnight kickoff of several games in the top competition. The administration has now agreed to relax the rules during the crucial knockout stages of the international event, due to the major time zone difference between India and some of the participating host cities, leaving several of the showpiece matches too late. Sports bars are preparing for a large-scale community presence, with the decision being welcomed by local traders and restaurateurs.

Karnataka CM highlighted that the temporary extension serves as a direct celebration of the global game while supporting the operational requirements of the local restaurant ecosystem. 

State Administration Issues Clear Guidelines For Late Night Screenings Across Bengaluru

The administration specified that the revised deadline will strictly apply to select operational dates, including July 14, July 15, and July 19, to ensure business operations align with the active broadcast pipeline. While the decision provides a substantial commercial boost to sports bars, the government maintained that strict enforcement parameters will remain active to monitor commercial activities during the late-night windows. The strategic relaxation allows local fans to experience the electric atmosphere of the FIFA World Cup 2026 live on big screens without any operational interruptions.

City Police Limits Reinforce Public Safety Measures During Extended Operating Hours

Special patrol parties have been deputed to the main commercial hubs such as the city’s Indiranagar, Koramangala, and MG Road in the late hours by the Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate to monitor developments and ensure no untoward incidents occur due to the late-night festivities. According to the police, permission has been granted under state government rules as a special exception only to serve food and refreshments during the extended hours in order to maintain peace and law and order. Businesses will have to ensure that all noise-related rules inside the building remain maintained without causing nuisance to the adjacent housing settlements.
