According to a report by The Standard.co.uk, an earthquake occurred in Cuba and was felt in Southern Florida as buildings were shaken due to a the tremors.

According to the report, an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude in Orlando left England’s FIFA World Cup 2026 squad as buildings had to be evacuated. Fortunately, local media reported no casualties, damage and injuries despite buildings shaken due to tremors. The Three Lions are set to lock horns against Costa Rica in their final friendly match on June 11, Thursday in Florida City before their World Cup campaign kicks off against Croatia. England beat New Zealand in the first of their two friendly games before the tournament.

It is reportedly the most powerful earthquake in Cuba since the year 1880. The report from The Standard also mentioned that holiday resorts including Cancun and Tulum in Mexico and Disney World in Orlando also felt the tremors emanating from the earthquake. Nevertheless, firefighters from Florida stressed that there were no need for alarms, with the US National Tsunami Warning Centre also underlined that there was no danger of a Tsunami.

Meanwhile, England’s best outing in the FIFA World Cup was in 1966 when they lifted their first and only title under the leadership of Bobby Moore. But since then, the Three Lions’ best performance in the tournament has been finishing in the 4th place in 1990 and 2018. England, captained by Harry Kane, will be keen to lift the trophy this time around.
