English football legend Wayne Rooney appeared not quite impressed by the FIFA World Cup 2026 final half-time show, a Super Bowl-style first-of-a-kind event for the game. After Spain and Argentina ended the first half goalless, Rooney, when asked about the star-studded FIFA half-time show featuring global artists like Shakira, Justin Bieber and K-Pop band BTS, gave a blunt response. The footballer-turned-pundit, speaking on a television show, said that he might have loved the artists who performed, but overall, he thought “it was a crap”.

The former Manchester United striker said on air, “My favourite bit of the half-time show was when it finished… I like all of them artists, but I thought it was crap.”
His comment soon went viral, reigniting an existing controversy about the newly introduced FIFA half-time show. Fans, however, should have enjoyed the event, as they watched Shakira perform the official FIFA World Cup 2026 song “Dai Dai”, while Justin Bieber and BTS members also entertained with some iconic tracks.
Rooney echoed the sentiment of many fans who raised questions over stretching the break for the musical event, as it could increase the risk of muscle injuries.
