The summer transfer window saw a dramatic final day as Premier League clubs rushed to complete their remaining business before the deadline on Spetember 1, Wednesday. Manchester City stole the headlines by completing the £125 million signing of Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, with the Argentina midfielder becoming the joint-most expensive player in British football history. City also completed a £65 million deal for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, taking their late spending spree to another level.

Manchester City saved their biggest move for the final hours of the window, signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125 million.
The deal matches the British transfer record held by Alexander Isak and makes Fernandez the joint-most expensive player in British football history. The Argentina international also reunites with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca at the Etihad Stadium.
City also completed the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for a reported £65 million. The Senegal international signed a five-year contract and gives Maresca another versatile attacking option.
The two late additions capped a huge summer of spending for City, who led all Premier League clubs with around £458 million spent during the window.

Chelsea See Major Departures
Chelsea endured a busy final day, with Fernandez leading a series of departures from Stamford Bridge.
Robert Sanchez joined Serie A side Como on a season-long loan, while Tosin Adarabioyo completed a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Mykhailo Mudryk also crossed London to join Spurs on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal. Marc Guiu moved to RB Leipzig, while Deivid Washington completed a permanent transfer to Strasbourg and Dario Essugo joined the French club on loan.

Jack Grealish Returns to Everton
Everton lost Ndiaye to Manchester City but secured the return of Jack Grealish on a season-long loan.
The England international spent the 2025/26 campaign at Everton after joining from City on loan and will now remain at the club for another season.
Everton also completed the signing of former Arsenal player Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon.
Meanwhile, striker Beto moved permanently to Fiorentina and Nathan Patterson joined Torino. Everton’s attempt to sign Folarin Balogun from Monaco, however, failed to go through despite the club submitting a deal sheet after the 11pm deadline.

Newcastle United Sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo
Newcastle United continued their squad rebuild by signing 21-year-old forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille.
The Belgium international joined for around £51 million and can operate as a centre-forward, No. 10 or on the left wing.
Newcastle also allowed record signing Nick Woltemade to leave on a season-long loan to Juventus.

Aston Villa Complete Two Deals
Aston Villa completed two significant additions on deadline day as they continued their major squad overhaul.
The club signed 18-year-old Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain for £47 million. Villa also brought in England international defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton for a deal worth around £29-30 million.
Mbaye arrives after making history for Senegal at the 2026 World Cup, while Harwood-Bellis provides further defensive depth following the departure of Ezri Konsa to Arsenal.

Hull City Make Six Signings
Hull City were the busiest Premier League club on deadline day, making six additions and taking their total number of summer signings to 18.
