Formula 1 star George Russell has announced his engagement to longtime partner Carmen Montero Mundt. The Mercedes driver shared the news on social media with a ring and white heart emoji, posting pictures from the romantic proposal.
The couple appeared to celebrate the special moment during an intimate candlelit dinner on a beach, with Carmen proudly showing off her engagement ring.
Russell and Montero Mundt have been together since 2020 after being introduced through a mutual friend. Carmen has since become a familiar face in the F1 paddock, regularly supporting Russell at race weekends. The Mercedes driver had previously spoken about their relationship and hinted that marriage was part of their future plans.
“Carmen brings me stability when it comes to racing and also a way to disconnect,” he said. “Without doubt she’s my future. So [I hope we’ll be married] in due course. It won’t be next week, but it won’t be longer than five years. So somewhere in that timeframe.”
The engagement quickly drew congratulations from across the F1 paddock, with the official F1 account and several drivers and teams celebrating the news.

Carmen Montero Mundt is a Spanish finance professional, author and fashion influencer who is widely recognised as George Russell’s longtime partner. The couple began dating in 2020 and announced their engagement on August 9, 2026, following a romantic candlelit beachside proposal. While she is a familiar presence in the F1 paddock, Mundt has also built a career away from motorsport.
Mundt moved from Spain to the UK at 18 and earned a Business Management and Finance degree from the University of Westminster in 2021. She later completed an advanced diploma in asset allocation and risk management from the University of Geneva and worked with Delta Capita and investment firm Ruffer LLP. She has also promoted financial literacy for women through an e-book with Female Invest and entered the wellness industry with her skincare brand, Barriers.
