GT vs SRH, IPL 2026: For the fourth consecutive year, the Gujarat Titans will don the lavender jersey when they face the might of the SunRisers Hyderabad on May 12, Tuesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Since their second season in 2023, the Titans have been following this practice; hence, it’s worth exploring the significance behind wearing the jersey.

GT vs SRH, IPL 2026: Why will the Gujarat Titans wear lavender jersey during the game against the SunRisers Hyderabad?

Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans will take the field in the special lavender jersey to advocate their fight against cancer. In doing that, they will once again express their solidarity with every fighter, survivor and family impacted by the deadly disease of cancer. The initiative aims to spread awareness about the necessity of detecting the cancer early and give due access to quality care accordingly.

GT vs SRH, IPL 2026: Have Gujarat Titans ever lost a game in the Lavender jersey?

Having played three matches in the Lavender jersey, the Titans have won one and lost one, with the third game ending in no result. Their only defeat came in the 2025 edition to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as Mitchell Marsh’s maiden hundred ensured a victory for the home side. Nevertheless, the Titans are looking in red-hot form after losing two consecutive matches to start their campaign. The game against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur saw them register a 77-run win, making it their biggest win in IPL history. As a result, they also climbed to second spot in the points table. However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) win over the Mumbai Indians meant that the Titans are now third.

Meanwhile, the SunRisers Hyderabad are also a dangerous proposition, having picked up momentum from registering five consecutive wins. However, the Orange Army have defeated the Titans only once in seven games, with the lone victory coming in 2022. The team winning on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad could well have their one foot in the playoffs.
