One of the biggest threats to the Indian Premier League 2026 season is rain. It can end a match even before it starts, it can reduce the overs, it can hand out a point while snatching away a fair chance for the other team to compete, and most of all, it can limit the overs, meaning it limits the thrill of the game. Rajasthan Royals were one of the victims in the previous match, where they had to play a shortened match of just 11 overs per innings against Mumbai Indians. The match started two and a half hours late due to heavy rain in Guwahati at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. And yet again, ahead of their fourth IPL 2026 match against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the city remains under clouds with warnings of thunderstorms, lightning, and rain. This will be the last match of the season in Guwahati.
Guwahati Weather Today in RR vs RCB IPL Match Today at Barsapara
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the current temperature in Guwahati is around 23 degrees Celsius, with a 78% chance of rain. As the evening progresses and the sun sets, the rain probability drops slightly but still stays around 50%, which means there is a strong possibility that the toss could be delayed once again. The district is under Yellow Alert by IMD. “Thunderstorm with lightning very likely at isolated places”, the official warning claims.
However, according to AccuWeather, the rain chances are expected to decrease closer to match time at 7:00 PM. During the match hours, the sky is likely to clear up, with only about 12% cloud cover. There will still be a slight chance of rain, but it drops significantly to around 5%, which gives some hope for a full game.
