Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has set his sights on winning the Ballon d’Or after collecting the European Golden Shoe for the second time in his career. The England captain received the award in Munich on Wednesday after finishing last season as the leading scorer across Europe’s top domestic leagues.
The presentation took place at the FC Bayern Museum inside the Allianz Arena, with more than 60 guests in attendance. Former Bayern striker and Italy’s 2006 World Cup winner Luca Toni was among those present and paid tribute to Kane as he was officially recognised as Europe’s top goalscorer once again.

Harry Kane was delighted to receive the 2026 Golden Shoe after finishing as European club football’s leading scorer. The Bayern Munich striker credited the club’s staff, coaches and teammates for helping him reach the milestone and described the previous campaign as the finest of his career so far. “I want to thank FC Bayern, the staff, the coaches, and my teammates – without them, I wouldn’t be standing here. A lot of work goes into an award like this. I try to help the team in the best way possible. Last season was outstanding, and I’m very proud. It was the best season of my career so far.”
Kane also stressed how settled he feels at Bayern and said the team remains focused on competing for major honours. “I feel very comfortable at FC Bayern and with the team. We’re always aiming for big things, and we want to do that again this season,” he said at the award ceremony.
Reflecting on his role under Vincent Kompany, Kane explained that his experience has allowed him to contribute in different areas of the pitch. “I feel very comfortable in all positions; the older you get, the more parts of the pitch you learn. Last year this understanding was even better; the coach allows me to drop back to build up play, but then to push forward again. The coach expects a lot from everyone, with and without the ball; the team is very special, and I love winning a tackle just as much as scoring a goal,” he added.
Harry Kane Eyes Ballon d’Or After Record-Breaking Season and Fourth Golden Shoe
Harry Kane claimed the European Golden Shoe after finishing as the top scorer across Europe’s major domestic leagues, adding the award to the one he won in his first Bayern Munich season. The England captain scored 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last season, helping Bayern secure a league and cup double, while also finding the net six times at the World Cup to take his tournament tally to 14 goals. In total, Kane finished the campaign with 73 goals for club and country. He also helped Bayern reach the Champions League semifinals and England reach the World Cup semifinals, and said the latest Golden Shoe “tasted even better than the first”.
Kane believes his record-breaking campaign could put him in contention for the Ballon d’Or, although he knows the final decision is beyond his control. “Obviously, that’s out of my control. I know, of course, there’s going to be a lot of talk about it from now until October when it’s announced,” he said. “Ultimately, I’ve done everything I can last season. It was my best season by far. I achieved a lot with the teams I was in.” Kane, who has won the Golden Shoe four times, trails only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have six and four respectively.
