The seam-bowling all-rounder has missed out, opening the door for another debutant in Prince Yadav, who impressed with his pace and unrelenting accuracy for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026.

According to the BCCI, Reddy has a sore left thigh, making him unavailable for selection in the second ODI in Lucknow on Wednesday. While Reddy remained unavailable for selection, the hosts also affected two other changes to their playing XI. Yashasvi Jaiswal replaced Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav replaced Harsh Dubey and Prince has come in place of Prasidh Krishna.

Prince is the third debutant for the Men in Blue in second consecutive ODI, with Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar marking their first appearance in the series-opener in Dharamshala. Both Dubey and Brar claimed three wickets each to keep Afghanistan to 195 in what was a rain-shortened contest of 25 overs per side.

IND vs AFG, 2nd ODI: Who won the series-opener in Dharamshala?

Team India had emerged victorious comfortably in the series-opener in Dharamshala. The rain-affected contest saw the coin toss fall in favour of Shubman Gill, who sent the tourists into bat. Although Rahmanullah Gurbaz starred with a 48-ball ton, only two others in Azmatullah Omarzai (26) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (27) got to double figures as Afghanistan failed to finish with a flourish and managed only 195 when a total of over at least 225 was on the cards.

Shubman Gill top-scored for the Men in Blue with an unbeaten 84 off 66 deliveries, studded with 11 fours and a couple of sixes. Ishan Kishan, who batted at No.3, also chipped in with 34, while KL Rahul also smashed 39* as India crossed the line with ease.
